A village filled with history
The village of Riez nestles at the heart of the Plateau de Valensole, between the Alps and the Provence. Built against the hill at the junction of 3 valleys, Riez-la-Romaine holds Roman remains from a wealthy past. You’ll discover granite columns, remainders of a temple as well as a baptistery, one of the rare examples of paleo-Christian architecture in the Provence. The Middle Ages left ramparts to the town, and you can still admire two gates and a tower today. Riez-la-Romaine offers a true plunge in history.
